Honey I been down this road / a time or two / I remember when it was / a dream of me and you.

My heart is a kingdom / a castle to love / that died in the world / those dreams of up above

My heart is a castle / a vast chilly empty space

You see castles are built / atop tombs of grace

The catacombs / keep growing

Of men who don't know their place

That I pick up and cherish / in the tender forests / of my heart.

Diana / was a lover / don't let them sell you / virginal cathedrals. / Her home was a bower

But it was a home she owned. A home she owneddddd

Banks betting on me cuz I'm white and middle class. I got nothing but problems

And they are all my ownnnnnn. They are all my own.

People tell me that they love me, and its not better when they do.

See love creates nuthin but problems ;’tween me n you.

Cuz my home is not my ownnnnnnnnn. My home is not. My. Own.

The only home, I can hope to own, is the one between me and you.

But you are the rocks, and I am the glue

You pretend you aint got problems and that mine are nothin do.

I’m Helen, I’m Cassandra, I lived it a thousand times. You want to be special,

But you don’t know what to do.

I try to be the ocean, beat my waves upon your rocks

But I want love tomorrow, not a future full of socks.

I’m tired of being a Girl Scout, leaving them better than I found em.

I want my rings of fire. Rings of fire

To burn as brightly as the moon.

The only home I own, is the one tween me and you

working title--a poem on maleness and femaleness

I wrote a book the other week. Let me

Share it with you:

Men are dumb about their

Emotions. Women are

Dumb about their men.

4,000 years of history

A nugget

Of a book. Essence

A man wrote a

Counterpoint—

Men sacrifice themselves

For their women. Women

Sacrifice

Men for themselves

He expected anger, got

A thoughtful nod.

Women’s dual nature,

Unchecked unassayed

Uncyclical and winding

Does make men feel

As if a sacrifice.

See her duality.

He said,

“See, I’m not so dumb

About my emotions!”

I nodded. Never

Argue with a man,

I always say.

Working title—

Well we all

Make our own choices, don’t we.
